International Marine Medical Insurance is an employer sponsored insurance plan designed for groups of 3 or more. Individuals should consider purchasing Global Medical Insurance and the membership is portable between these two plans.
International Marine Medical Insurance is available to marine captains, their crew members and their dependents. Citizens of any country can enroll into the plan. However, U.S. citizens have a restriction on the duration they can spend in a year in the U.S.
IMMI covers the Usual, Reasonable, and Customary (URC) charges for eligible expenses in the area where treatment is received. Deductible are per insured person per calendar year with a maximum of 3 deductible per family per calendar year. For eligible expenses incurred in the United States, outside of the independent PPO network: once the deductible is met, the plan will pay 80% of all eligible expenses up to US$5,000 then 100% of eligible expenses to the policy maximum. For eligible expenses incurred in the United States, within the independent PPO network: the deductible and coinsurance will be waived and the plan will pay 100% of eligible expenses. For eligible expenses incurred outside of the United States: once the deductible is met, the plan will pay 100% of eligible expenses up to the policy maximum.
